Our SEED Garden

SEED’s vision is of communities where schools are centers of outdoor learning and ecological literacy which foster earth stewardship and demonstrate relevant local food production. Practices at school transform whole communities towards resilience and social cohesion where food is grown locally and livelihoods are generated sustainably.

SEED’s work over the last 12 years has been pioneering the growing of Outdoor Classrooms in under- resourced schools in South Africa. We have found that you can transform whole communities through working with schools. We are now growing programs that support Career Pathing, Community Enterprise as well as broader Environmental Education reach into schools across the country.

In addressing these issues, we have found that our work responds to the accelerating crisis of climate change and also offers solutions to challenges like the need for dignified sustainable livelihoods, career pathing for youth, local food production, community resilience as well as social cohesion.
